Educational Advocacy
Support designed to help you advocate for your child's educational needs effectively.
Navigating the complexities of educational plans like IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) and 504 Plans can be daunting. It requires expertise and training, yet parents are expected to handle this on their own. Whether you are preparing for an initial meeting, seeking revisions to an existing plan, I provide expert guidance to ensure your child receives the services they deserve and require. In addition to being trained by COPAA and the SPAN Network, I have extensive experience joining in IEP and 504 processes.
How it works
-
Plan Review: I can review your child's current IEP or 504 Plan, along with additional assessments and reports.
-
Preparation & Advocacy: I will help you prepare for meetings with school staff, and give you a comprehensive action list to advocate for your child's needs. I can also attend meetings with you as needed.
-
Ongoing Support: I provide continued support throughout the school year, assisting with plan modifications to ensure your child's needs continue to be met, and you continue to be a meaningful participant in the process. I also support documentation and record-keeping to monitor progress and stay on top of changes.
-
Collaboration with Schools: I can liaise directly with school personnel to ensure your child's educational program is fully supported.
-
Independent Educational Evaluations (IEE): I am trained to provide IEE's for children who require an ABA-based educational program and Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs). Additionally, I have extensive experience serving as an expert witness for impartial hearings.
